Founded in 1974 by Jim and Donna Leask and operated as Leask’s Food Market first where Chesley Rexall is and then at it’s present location since 1982.  Peter and Jacqui Knipfel purchased the store from Jim and Donna and operate it with a team of 32 employees and management.

Chesley Grocery Store is a proud member of the Chesley community, supporting local charities and sports organizations.  We support local products wherever possible including local beef, pork, turkeys, deli products, cheese, honey and maple syrup to name a few.  Seasonally they support area farmers by carrying and selling items such as sweet corn, flowers, squash, pumpkins, cantaloupes etc.

In July of 2009, Chesley Grocery Store along with 8 other Independent Grocery Stores joined forces to form The Hometown Grocers Co-Operative.  Stores include Knechtel Food Market, Lucknow, Hinds Food Market, Grand Valley, Drayton Food Market, Drayton and L & M Markets in Arthur, Durham Elora, Harriston and Palmerston
